Nature in focus

According to the national park regulation, research is carried out to provide information on the reserve’s development and thus to support the management of the national park administration. Furthermore, it is to contribute also to the knowledge in respect of nature conservation, forestry and practical experience in general.

A basis for a systematic scientific and purpose-specific research in the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park has been established since the foundation of the national park in 2004, opening up numerous fields of action and important challenges for future research and monitoring activities. A deeper understanding of natural dynamic systems, especially with regard to the European Natural Heritage Beech Forest is a long-term vision. The information is gained from interdisciplinary ecosystem research and makes a contribution to shaping the future.
